Skills for Effective Parent Advocacy
Advocacy is an important skill to have in your toolbox. Wikipedia define advocacy as, “…an activity by an individual or group that aims to influence decisions within political, economic, and social institutions.” In this session we aim to provide families with an introduction to advocacy in the special education process. This training will cover:
- What is an Advocate & Why You Should Advocate
- 6 Skills of Advocacy
- Tips for Communication in Meeting and in Writing/Email
- What To Do When You Can’t Agree
Don’t miss this workshop and the opportunity to improve your advocacy skills and become a more effective IEP team member.
